Jenda Police Station has made significant strides in reducing crime, with a remarkable 31.1% decrease in criminal cases in 2024 compared to the previous year. According to the station’s annual general report, 457 criminal cases were registered in 2024, down from 663 cases in 2023, representing a difference of 206 cases.

The station’s efforts in combating crime have yielded impressive results, with 282 suspects arrested and taken to court. Of these, 181 were successfully prosecuted, leading to various convictions. In addition to the reduction in crime, Jenda Police Station has also reported a significant decrease in road accidents. The number of accidents dropped by 59%, from 62 in 2023 to 25 in 2024. Fatalities decreased by 39%, from 18 in 2023 to 11 in 2024. The station also noted a 25% reduction in serious road accidents and a dramatic 79% decrease in minor accidents.

The station attributes these achievements to strengthened collaboration between the police and the community, improved crime management strategies, and enhanced community engagement. Through its Public Relations Office and Community Policing Branch, Jenda Police introduced radio programs, awareness campaigns, and outreach initiatives aimed at educating the public about crime prevention and legal compliance.

Despite these successes, Jenda Police faces logistical and operational challenges, including the absence of a local court and limited court days at Mzimba Magistrate Court. The station operates with 193 officers serving a population of 273,662 people across five traditional authorities.
