A new chapter in Malawian football has begun with the official launch of Machinjiri Football Academy in Blantyre. Founded by three passionate Malawians – Isaac Njiwa, Kizito Kumwenda, and Tafarai Thabang Mopiwa – the academy aims to identify and nurture young talent, producing both local and international players.

With an initial intake of 90 boys, categorized into three age groups (under 10, under 14, and under 17), the academy is poised to make a significant impact on the country’s football landscape. According to Isaac Njiwa, the academy’s primary objective is to provide a platform for young players to develop their skills and realize their potential.

The launch of Machinjiri Football Academy has been welcomed by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), with Talent Development Skills Manager Anderson Kamanga praising the initiative. Kamanga emphasized that the academy complements government efforts to promote football in Malawi, and expressed excitement about the potential for transformative growth in the sport under FAM President Freetwood Haiya.

As Malawi continues to produce talented young footballers, the establishment of Machinjiri Football Academy is a timely investment in the country’s sporting future. With its focus on nurturing young talent, the academy is well-positioned to contribute to the development of Malawian football and inspire a new generation of players.
