NGORA Urges NGOs to Submit 2022/23 Reports by December 31

The Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Authority (NGORA) has urged all NGOs that have not yet filed their 2022/23 reports to do so by December 31, 2024. Edward Chileka Banda, the Chief Executive Officer of NGORA, made this call during an interview in Blantyre on Tuesday.

According to Banda, 23 NGOs have already submitted their reports, while 12 are still outstanding.

The NGOs that have not submitted their reports will not be allowed to continue their operations, although their names will not be disclosed to allow for compliance undertakings.

“If an NGO will not meet NGORA’s  regulations as per inline with CONGOMA that will not be counted for”He said.

Banda also announced the publication and gazetting of three critical regulations, including Operations of International NGOs Regulations, Registration Regulations and Fees Regulations.

He said the reforms aim to streamline operations, foster greater efficiency, and strengthen the regulatory framework governing the NGO sector in Malawi.

NGORA has been working to promote a conducive environment for NGOs in the country.
