DPP Director of Operations Charles Mchacha warns of nationwide demonstrations if government fails to address key issues

By Burnett Munthali

The Director of Operations for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Charles Mchacha, has issued a stern warning to the government, stating that failure to address the critical issues raised by the opposition will lead to nationwide demonstrations. Speaking during a press briefing in Blantyre, Mchacha emphasized that the current administration must act swiftly to resolve pressing national concerns or face mass protests across the country.

Mchacha outlined several areas where the government has failed to deliver, citing the worsening economic situation, rising unemployment, poor governance, and the ongoing fuel crisis as examples of the administration’s incompetence. According to him, the public is growing increasingly frustrated with the government’s lack of action and accountability.

“We have reached a point where enough is enough,” Mchacha said. “Malawians are suffering, and this government continues to ignore the people’s cries. If the authorities do not address these critical issues, we will have no choice but to take to the streets.”

Mchacha accused the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) government of mishandling the economy, leading to skyrocketing inflation, a weakened currency, and a deepening poverty crisis. He also pointed to the rampant corruption and lack of transparency within key government institutions, which he claims have further eroded public trust.

“The people of Malawi are demanding solutions, not excuses,” Mchacha stressed. “We have made our concerns known, but this government has shown no willingness to act. If they continue to turn a blind eye, we will mobilize Malawians to rise and make their voices heard.”

The DPP leader also raised concerns over the government’s handling of public services, including health and education, which he argued have deteriorated significantly since the current administration took power. He emphasized that the DPP will continue to stand with the people of Malawi, advocating for better governance and policies that address their everyday challenges.

“We will not sit idly by while the country is being destroyed by poor leadership,” Mchacha declared. “If the government does not take immediate steps to address these issues, we will organize peaceful demonstrations nationwide. The people of Malawi deserve better, and we will fight for their rights.”

Mchacha’s call for potential protests has added to the growing political tension in the country. The DPP has been increasingly vocal in its criticism of the MCP-led government, accusing it of failing to fulfill campaign promises and mismanaging public resources.

As the pressure mounts, all eyes are now on the government to see whether it will respond to the DPP’s demands or face the possibility of large-scale demonstrations.

In conclusion, Mchacha reiterated that the DPP remains committed to advocating for the people of Malawi and will use all legal means available, including mass protests, to hold the government accountable.

“The ball is in the government’s court. They can choose to act now or face the consequences later. Malawians are tired, and we will not back down until the issues are addressed,” Mchacha warned.
