President Chakwera launches AIP on Friday, 1.5 million farmers set to benefit

President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera will on Friday 20th October 2023 launch the much awaited Affordable Input Programme (AIP) in Kasungu, government announced the news on Tuesday.

Briefing Journalists in Lilongwe, Kawale said this year’s programme is expected to benefit 1.5 million farmers.

Kawale who was accompanied by Minister of Information and Digitalization Moses Kunkuyu
said that government has maintained the price of K15,000 for a 50 kg bag of fertiliser.



Kawale assured farmers in the country of the availability of fertiliser saying treasury has already released funds and that all logistical processes are in place.

On this point, the agriculture minister explained that Smallholder Farmers Fertiliser Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) has in stock fertiliser ready for farmer’s use.

According to Kawale, government has already dispatched fertiliser to a number of districts namely; Dedza, Kasungu, Dowa, Nkhotakota, Mzimba, Rumphi
Chitipa, Mangochi and Neno.
