The Media Institute for Southern Africa ( MISA) Malawi chapter has joined the media fraternity in the country in mourning the death of journalist MacFarlane Mbewe.
Mbewe collapsed during a meeting on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KuHes) campus in Blantyre and he was later pronounced dead.
In a statement, the media body describes Mbewe’s death as shocking and a great loss in the media industry.
” Our condolences go to MarcFarlane’s wife Lisa, the entire Mbewe family, colleagues at Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme and the media fraternity.
“He will be remembered as a dedicated and ambitious journalist who upgraded academically and perfected his skills over time.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” reads the statement the media body has released a short while ago.
Until his death, Mbewe was working with Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme.
Among others,he worked for Capital Radio, Times Group, The Story Workshop and Seventh Day Adventist Radio.
He will be laid to rest on Saturday, February 25,2023 at HHI cemetery in Blantyre.
