Newly appointed cabinet ministers, deputies take oath of office

The newly appointed cabinet ministers and deputy ministers by President Lazarus Chakwera took oath of office at an event that was attended by several top government figures at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe on Thursday

The ministers who have taken the oath are only those that are new to the cabinet and those that have been elevated from deputy minister to full minister.

In his speech,President Lazarus Chakwera challenged the ministers to work towards uplifting Malawi.

Chakwera reminded the ministers of what his consideration of a successful tenure in his cabinet entails.

He said it is his expectation and that of all Malawians to have a cabinet that practices servant leadership to the book.

Said Chakwera “We all expect cabinet ministers with the right attitude and mindset to serve the Tonse agenda in unity.

“It is only when we work together as members of one cabinet that we will achieve a lot in terms of transforming people’s livelihoods through delivery of social services.

The President said he will continue to closely monitor his new cabinet to ensure that it is delivering on Tonse Alliance’s promises in line with its servant leadership philosophy.

The ministers include Minister of Homeland security Dr Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, Simplex Chithyola of Trade and Industry, Moses Kunkuyu of Information and Digitalization, Harry Mkandawire of Defense, Monica Chang’anamuno of mining, Madalitso Kambauwa Wilima of Education, Uchizi Mkandawire of Youth and Sports and Deus Gumba of Lands.
