Government has reiterated it’s position on uprooting corruption in order to win equitable and meaningful use of resources.
Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Titus Mvalo, expressed concern during a press briefing in Lilongwe on Wednesday that some ill-minded people, who are deep into corrupt practices, are branding the Tonse led Government as the most corrupt because it is putting stiff measures to expose and uproot corruption.
He said the current government is exploring all measures to uprooting corruption by providing resources to all justice rendering institutions including the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) hence expecting improvement in fighting the vice.
“My ministry and all it’s departments are working tirelessly to make sure that corruption is dealt with total seriousness. But, I am saddened that, corruption cases are taking too long to be concluded like the case of former president Dr. Bakili Muluzi which has lasted 14 years, making government spend a lot of resources,” he said.
Minister of Information and Digitalisation, Gospel Kazako, said President Chakwera trusts the ACB Director, Martha Chizuma, whom he described as strong in helping uproot corruption in the country.
“We have seen a lot of people demonstrating to force the President to remove Chizuma from her position. Let them exercise their constitutional right, but Chizuma is there to help Malawians win the battle against corruption,” he explained.
He, therefore, warned citizens against helping perpetrators of corruption in the name of exercising their right to demonstrate as enshrined in the Constitution.
