A disturbing case of child abuse has surfaced in Nkhotakota, where a 40-year-old man, Ruben Banda, has been arrested for sodomizing a 9-year-old standard 2 pupil. The incident occurred when the young girl visited Banda’s house, where she was allegedly assaulted.
According to the police report, the victim’s mother noticed that her daughter was having difficulty walking when she returned home from school. Upon questioning, the girl revealed the horrific details of her encounter with Banda.
The matter was promptly reported to Nkhunga Police Station, where the victim was referred to Nkhunga Health Center for medical examination. The medical report confirmed the abuse, leading to Banda’s arrest with the assistance of the community policing forum.
Ruben Banda, a resident of Dzoza village, Traditional Authority Kafunzira, in Nkhotakota District, is currently in police custody at Nkhunga police station. He will face charges under section 153 (a) of the Penal Code for carnally knowing a child against the order of nature.
