As the 2025 general elections draw nearer, former President and leader of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), His Excellency Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, has begun holding crucial meetings with his supporters, sparking renewed hope among party members. Mutharika’s recent rally at Chonde Trading Centre, a venue initially intended to be at Chinakanaka, was a statement of intent as he works towards reasserting DPP’s influence in the upcoming elections.

During his address at the rally, Prof. Mutharika expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and love shown by the crowds. He acknowledged the significant turnout of supporters, highlighting the commitment to the party’s values and its future under his leadership. In his speech, Mutharika encouraged those who had not yet registered to vote to do so immediately to ensure their voices are heard in the forthcoming September 2025 elections.

“The enthusiasm and love that you have shown today are the reasons we remain hopeful,” Mutharika said, addressing the cheering crowd. “The upcoming elections will provide an opportunity for everyone to make a difference, and I encourage you all to ensure you are registered and ready to vote. Our future is in our hands.”

Turning his focus to the party’s structure, Mutharika emphasized that the DPP is now a unified force, stronger than ever before. He asserted that anyone who had previously caused division within the party has been removed, with all members now aligned and focused on the party’s goals. Mutharika’s speech reinforced the message that the DPP is prepared and determined to regain power in the 2025 elections, positioning the party as the solution to the current challenges faced by the nation.

“The DPP today is one united front, and we are ready to take back the leadership of this country,” Mutharika affirmed. “Those who have caused confusion in the past have been expelled, and we are now stronger and more determined.”

With President Mutharika back at the helm of his party, the DPP is gearing up for a hard-fought battle in the 2025 general elections. The rally at Chonde was just the beginning of what promises to be a vigorous campaign to reclaim political dominance and deliver on promises made to the people of Malawi.
