The First Lady also highlighted her advocacy for policies and initiatives that safeguard the rights of senior citizens. These include addressing issues like access to healthcare, protection from abuse, and creating community support systems to cater to the unique needs of the elderly.

The elderly women, some of whom were attending such an event for the first time, expressed their gratitude for the initiative. “This is a special moment for us. We feel seen and appreciated,” said one of the attendees, a 75-year-old from Monkey Bay.

The event’s highlight was the distribution of early Christmas gifts, including essential supplies, food items, and festive hampers, ensuring the elderly women felt the spirit of the holiday season.
