By Vincent Gunde

The 14th Revolutionary Party, Muvi wa Chilungamo, has come out in the open disassociating itself from a Pressure Group distributing United Democratic Front’s (UDF) T-shirts to its members across the country under its name-Muvi wa Chilungamo.

The MRP, which graduated from pressure group in 2020 to a full registered political party in Malawi by the office of the Registrars General on 23rd December, 2024 has availed itself to the general public that it will contest for Presidency, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections come September, 2025.

The campaign to a full party started in 2016 branded by the name “Malawi Engagement Group (MAENGA) when WhatsAPP members agreed to be engaging elected governments in Malawi on matters of national importance under its Patron the late Dr. Hazwell Bandawe.

In a press statement dated 11th December, 2024 signed by its Secretary General Greyson Mikuwa, the MRP has reminded Malawians that it was once a Pressure Group as from 2020 and has graduated to a political party with its offices located at Phekani House opposite the Chibisa House along Sir. Glyn Jones Road in Blantyre.

The MRP has appealed to the UDF leadership of Dr. Atupele Muluzi brought their Pressure Group to order saying the laws of Malawi do not subscribe to this kind of political party duplications and shineganism.

The party has advised the Malawi citizens not to be blinded by following the Pressure Group parading on the ground as Muvi wa Chilungamo saying it is sad that a fellow political party is wanting to infiltrate the other party using its official registered name.

“Let’s hope that people know that in Malawi, there’s one Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) coming from a Pressure Group,” reads the statement in part.

The MRP has finally warned Malawians that no any group or person is allowed to use MRP as a Pressure Group, appealing to the UDF to advise its supporters in the name of Muvi wa Chilungamo Pressure Group to stop using its name.
