Transportation and business operations disrupted in Dowa due to fuel shortage

By Burnett Munthali

Operations for transportation and commerce have begun to face significant disruptions in Mponela, Dowa District, and surrounding areas due to a critical shortage of fuel.

Currently, all fuel stations are out of petrol and diesel, leaving drivers and motorcyclists scrambling for alternatives. Those who are able to find petrol are purchasing it at a steep price of K6,000 per litre from vendors.

Sydney Mchenga, a minibus driver, expressed his frustrations to Times 360 Malawi, stating that the fuel shortage is severely impacting business operations in the area. “The government needs to take immediate action to address this issue before it escalates and disrupts businesses across the country,” he said.

As the fuel crisis continues, the local economy faces increasing pressure, with many business owners and transport operators calling on the government to implement solutions swiftly to prevent further complications.
