Silver Strikers hold top spot after thrilling 2-2 draw against Creck Sporting club

The 2024 TNM Super League championship race intensified over the weekend, with leaders Silver Strikers securing a crucial point after a thrilling 2-2 draw against Creck Sporting Club at Aubrey Dimba Stadium.

The result maintained Silver’s grip on the top spot, but Mighty Mukuru Wanderers’ 1-0 loss to Karonga United narrowed the gap.

In another exciting match, Mighty Tigers edged Bangwe All Stars 1-0, further complicating the championship picture.

Silver Strikers’ draw against Creck Sporting Club showcased the team’s resilience.

Despite being pushed to the limit, the leaders demonstrated their determination to stay ahead.

“We knew it was going to be a tough match, but we’re satisfied with the point,” Silver Strikers’ coach, Peter Mponda, said in a post-match interview. “Our focus remains on the championship, and we’ll keep working hard.”

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers’ loss to Karonga United, however, raised concerns about their title aspirations.

The 1-0 defeat exposed Wanderers’ vulnerabilities and handed Silver a significant advantage.

“It’s disappointing, but we can’t give up,” Wanderers’ coach said. “We’ll regroup and focus on our next match.”

Mighty Tigers’ victory over Bangwe All Stars injected new life into their championship hopes.

The 1-0 win propelled Tigers up the standings and demonstrated their ability to challenge the top teams.
