Alexius Kamangila Warns of Scammers, Calls for Vigilance on Facebook
By Burnett Munthali
Lawyer and human rights advocate Alexius Kamangila has taken to his official Facebook page to issue a warning about scammers using his name for fraudulent activities. In a post titled “SCAMMERS ALERT, BE VIGILANT,” Kamangila firmly disowned any associations with these individuals, stressing that they are exploiting his reputation to deceive people.
“I would like to disown these scammers,” Kamangila wrote. “Only Pido International and Onjezani Kenani are legit. Chenjerani enawa akuberani chabe… Awawa aliku Hawaii lol.”
In his post, Kamangila urged the public to be cautious and to verify any fundraising or online campaigns claiming to be linked to him. He emphasized that anyone outside of Pido International and Onjezani Kenani’s verified initiatives is engaging in fraudulent activities.
The lawyer’s post coincided with the appearance of a suspicious GoFundMe page titled Help Alexious Kamangila Expose Corruption. The campaign purports to support Kamangila’s efforts as a whistleblower fighting for justice in Malawi. While Kamangila has been at the forefront of several high-profile corruption cases, he clarified that this particular campaign was not sanctioned by him.
“Support Alexious Kamangila: A Whistleblower’s Fight for Justice,” the post on GoFundMe claimed, asking for donations to back Kamangila’s legal battles. However, Kamangila reiterated that the campaign was a scam and that people should refrain from donating to any unverified sources.
As a respected human rights lawyer, Kamangila has been involved in numerous advocacy efforts aimed at exposing corruption in Malawi. His reputation has made him a target for scammers attempting to exploit his name for personal gain. Kamangila urged people to stay vigilant, verify any information before contributing to causes, and report suspicious activities.
Kamangila’s post highlights the increasing issue of online fraud and the importance of remaining cautious when supporting causes, particularly those involving financial contributions.
