Kalindo says stoning of presidential convoy a sign of current regime downfall

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Kalindo says the stoning of the presidential convoy by irate people of Mkhate and Livunzu in Chikwawa district on Thursday is a sign that Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera are bidding bye after serving only one term in office.

Kalindo notes that the people of Mkhate and Livunzu, who are from remote areas, have managed to mobilize themselves with courage to stone the presidential motorcade.

He wonders what would happen if people living in towns and cities were to take similar action.

The activist states that the incident at Mkhate and Livunzu in Chikwawa should serve as a warning sign to President Chakwera and his MCP that Malawians are sick and tired and are regretting their decision to vote for the party in June 2020.

In an audio clip circulating on social media platforms, Kalindo has called on the MCP leadership to convene an emergency meeting to find out what went wrong, leading to the villagers of Mkhate and Livunzu stoning the presidential convoy.

He has made a prophecy that the spirits of the departed Dr. Saulosi Chilima, Madam Dr. Patricia Shanil Dzimbiri, and seven others who died in a tragic plane crash in Mzimba in Chikangawa forest on June 10, 2024, are not resting in eternal peace.

He claims that the bad omen of the departed innocent souls, who could have contributed to national development, will continue to torment President Chakwera and all those who took part in the planning and implementation of the mission that led to their deaths.

Kalindo has further advised President Chakwera to step down, saying that all Malawians are angry with him and that the MCP’s rigging schemes will be exposed.

He claims that Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika had to divert his convoy to the bushes to avoid being stoned, showing that he respected himself.

Kalindo faults Malawians for being quiet after Dr. Chilima and eight others died, saying that a fake German report did not answer the question of who killed the nine people.

He alleges that people are afraid to stand up due to fear of police arrests.

Finally, Kalindo has advised Malawians that the opposition parties have only one political game-changer, Madam Mary Chilima, urging Catholic Bishops in Malawi to meet her.
