Chakwera Hosts Creative and Cultural Industry Leaders

State president Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, has expressed the government’s commitment to promoting and protecting the creative and cultural industry in the country.

During a meeting at Sanjika Palace with cultural and creative industry leaders, President Chakwera commended the leaders, reminiscing about his old days.

The President acknowledged the significance of the creative industry in Malawi, stating his intention to continue working with artists to achieve Malawi Agenda 2063.

He emphasized the importance of industrializing and commercializing the creative industry’s work, noting that much of it remains unaccounted for, uncelebrated, uncompensated, and unsung.

The artists present commended President Chakwera for his passion, zeal, and vision in uplifting the creative industry.

Music Union of Malawi (MUM) President Vita Chirwa thanked the government for passing the National Arts and Heritage Council Bill into law, which will help promote the industry once operationalized.
