ActionAid Malawi launches 5-year plan to achieve social justice for marginalized communities

ActionAid Malawi on Thursday launched its five-year strategic plan (2024-2028) aimed at transforming governance and economic systems to achieve social justice for marginalised communities.

The plan focuses on advancing women rights, redistributing power and resources, and strengthening community resilience to climatic shocks.

Speaking during the launch in Lilongwe, Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare Jean Sendeza commended ActionAid for addressing critical gaps.

“The key priority areas in this strategy complement government efforts as we address challenges affecting the country, as we aim at poverty reduction and economic growth,” she said.

On her part,ActionAid Malawi board chairperson Grace Mkupu emphasized the organisation’s commitment to supporting women, children, and youth who face gender and intersecting inequalities that fuel exclusion and poverty.

With an investment of £16 million (K 38 billion), ActionAid Malawi’s strategy, titled “Transforming Systems for Social Justice,” aims to drive social change towards just, equitable, and sustainable communities.

Action Aid is global justice federation working to achieve social justice, gender equality and poverty eradication.
