President Chakwera Engages in Strategic Meetings in Berlin
By Burnett Munthali
President Lazarus Chakwera has announced on his Facebook page that he is currently in Berlin, Germany, for a series of high-level meetings with government officials and development partners.
On Thursday morning, Chakwera met with Vice Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Niels Annen, who expressed strong support for Malawi’s newly-adopted ATM strategy. Annen assured Chakwera of Germany’s commitment to assist Malawi in addressing climate-related social and economic challenges. This support is expected to come through bilateral initiatives and multinational frameworks, including the European Union and other global institutions.
In addition to this, President Chakwera had a productive discussion with a delegation from Lübeck University. The university is set to collaborate with Malawi in enhancing the capacity of the nation’s health sector. They plan to offer specialized training for nurses and midwives, focusing on the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases.
These engagements underscore Malawi’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and address critical development needs.
