By Kondwani Kandiado
The Catholic Church in Malawi has organised a National Catholic Charismatic Renewal Rally set to be held from Friday August 23 to Sunday August 25, 2024 at Don Bosco Parish- Area 23 in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.
The rally to be held under the theme “Until Christ is formed in you” (Gal 4:19) will be graced by a renowned Ugandan preacher Father John Baptist Bashobora among other preachers.
The Archbishop of Lilongwe Archdiocese, Most Rev. George Desmond Tambala is expected to lead the opening Holy Mass on Friday, August 23,2024 at Don Bosco Parish starting from 3 pm.
Speaking in an interview, the Organising Committee’s Chairperson, Denis Chirwa said the rally seeks to renew Christians hope coming from a background where pandemics have not allowed people to come together and freely worship.
He said: “A person’s life must be guided by the Holy Spirit and every time we come together in prayer we want to unite in spirit and get connected to prayer. People need to be in prayer and manifest a prayer life.”
Chirwa said they have decided to settle for the theme to ensure that every Christian’s life is in conformity with the love of God. A life well lived in Christ is a life well experienced because God manifests in all areas of life.
“It is trying to remind us that every day in our lives we have to do things that are always in realisation to God’s grace in our lives.”
He said the rally will also be an opportune time to remind people of God’s environment and that they put trust in God in every situation they are in.
“Those of us that would like to be touched in a special way, we should come and attend the rally to experience God’s grace,” said Chirwa.
Parishioners from all catholic dioceses in Malawi namely: Karonga, Mzuzu, Lilongwe, Dedza, Zomba, Mangochi, Blantyre and Chikwawa are expected to attend these national prayers.
