He said this will be the time for the Chewas of Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia to unite as one Chewa besides coming from different countries and giving full respect to His Majesty King of the Chewas, Kalonga Dr. Gawa Undi of Zambia.

Speaking through a video clip circulating in various media platforms, Sunganimoyo says the Kulamba ceremonies will take place on 31st August, 2024 and before reaching this date, CHEFO has organized fundraising activities to take place at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on 26th July, 2024.

Sunganimoyo says to make the fundraising an important activity, CHEFO has invited all Malawi Congress Party (MPs) from central region saying this fundraising will be graced by the Vice President of the Republic Rt. Hon. Dr. Michael Usi who is also a custodian of culture in Malawi.

He says part of the money to be realized at the fundraising activitity, will go towards the construction of a house for His Majesty Kalonga Dr. Gawa Undi in Malawi and CHEFO offices at Msampha in the area of Senior Chief Chadza in Lilongwe district.

The social commentator says Msampha in the area of Senior Chief Chadza will be the headquarters of the Chewa Heritage Foundation (CHEFO) as an honour to Senior Chief Chadza who for long has been preserving the Chewa culture and aspirations of the Chewas not only of his area but the country as a whole.

“On 3rd August, 2024 CHEFO Executive committee will meet at Msampha Chewa headquarters strategizing on their preparations for the main Kulamba ceremonies in Zambia on 31st August, 2024,” says Sunganimoyo.

He has advised all the Chewas wishing to contribute money towards Kulamba ceremonies not to give to anyone coming in the name of Kulamba saying every Chewa chief has a receipt book and once contribute, a receipt will be issued.

The Chewa Heritage Foundation (CHEFO) was established in 2002 by the late Dr. Justin Chimera Malewezi who was its first Patron for the Chewas in Malawi to come together, sharing their concerns as one group as well as uniting all the Chewas from Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia as one.
