By Chisomo Phiri
The Leader of the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD), Enock Chihana, has echoed UTM’s call for another independent inquiry into the plane crash that killed former Vice President Saulos Chilima and eight others.
Speaking during a political rally on Sunday at Katoto Ground in Mzuzu, Chihana stated that Malawians need to know what delayed the commencement of the search and rescue mission after it was noted that the plane went missing.

He further called on president Dr.Lazarus Chakwera to establish an independent commission of inquiry.
According to Chihana, the late Chilima played a pivotal role in the Tonse Alliance forming the government in 2020.
The AFORD leader, who has challenged Malawians to elect him as the next president of Malawi, vowed that the party will stand its ground to ensure democracy prevails in the country.
On Friday, UTM party officials made a fresh call for the government to institute another independent inquiry into the tragic passing of Chilima.
The late Chilima died in a plane crash on June 10, 2024 in Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba District.
He was laid to rest on June 17,2024 at Nsipe in Ntcheu District.
