Global tributes pour in for Malawi’s iconic musician Lucius Banda

The global music community is in mourning following the passing of Malawi’s beloved musician, Lucius Banda, with heartfelt tributes flooding in from around the world.

Among the latest to pay homage is Gramps Morgan of Morgan Heritage, who took to his official Facebook page to express his condolences. “Bro Lucius Banda RIP,” Morgan wrote, reminiscing about their shared stage experience at the Sands Music Festival. He extended his sympathies to Banda’s wife, children, and entire family, highlighting the profound impact Banda had on both his fellow artists and the nation of Malawi.

The touching messages arrived as Banda’s body returned to Malawi from South Africa in Tuesday July 2, 2024, arriving at Chileka Airport in Blantyre. The late musician will be honored in his hometown of Balaka before his final resting place on Thursday, culminating in a mass at Balaka Stadium.

The outpouring of tributes emphasizes Banda’s legacy in the music industry and the lives he touched through his music and advocacy. His contributions to Malawian culture and society have resonated deeply, earning him admiration and respect both locally and internationally.
