Evangelical Association of Malawi applauds President Chakwera

As the country continues to mourn the death of the former Vice President, Dr. Saulos Chilima and eight others who died in a plane crash, various groups including faith organizations continue to call on President Lazarus Chakwera to extend their heartfelt condolences to the President and the entire nation with messages of encouragement and applauses.
On Tuesday, 25th June, 2024 Leaders from the Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM) applauded President Chakwera for his leadership and patience amidst various allegations and misinformation from some individuals following the tragic death of Malawi’s Vice President, Saulos Chilima and eight others two weeks ago in Mzimba district.
Speaking when the EAM delegation consoled President Chakwera at Kamuzu Palace, the body’s Vice Chairperson, Dr. Naggie Madimbo hailed the President for demonstrating a fatherly leadership during the period.
“You have demonstrated fatherly attributes that the nation desperately needed at this trying and emotional time. This is highly commendable and has left a huge testimony of your leadership” Said Madimbo.
The Evangelical Association further applauded President Chakwera in calling for an independent inquiry into the cause of the plane crash, saying the report will go a long way in clearing the misconceptions and mistrust currently prevailing.
Madimbo then thanked all Malawians for maintaining peace and calm during the entire period.
In his remarks, President Chakwera assured the EAM delegation that he has given consent for independent investigation so that the public may know the truth about the accident.
Malawi is currently observing 21 days of mourning following the tragedy on 10th June 2024 in Chikangawa forest.
