Archbishop Msusa advises those with pangas not to hack others

By Vincent Gunde

His Grace Archbishop of the Blantyre Archdiocese of the Catholic church Thomas Msusa, has advised those that have stones in their hands to throw them away and those with pangas to use for the intended purposes and not to hack others.

Archbishop Msusa said the departed Vice President Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima preached unity, peace and love wherever he went and it will be disrespectful to his spirit if people turned violent saying this will be against his preaching.

He said the late Vice President in 2019 at Gynkana Club in Zomba preached a strong message holding a National Flag in his hands assuring all that if he can die is because of the flag and today, he has died in a plane crash with the same Malawi Flag.

Speaking during a Mass service at Msipe Parish ground-Gwedeza village in the area of Traditional Authority Kwataine in Nsipe-Ntcheu on Monday, Archbishop Msusa, said the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others in the Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba district on Monday 10th June, 2024 has raised so many questions than answers.

Archbishop Msusa claimed that he has a witness who saw everything in the Chikangawa Forest saying God was there and saw everything to answer all the questions people are asking surrounding the mysterious plane crash.

“Blessed are the peace makers, even social media, the witches are in a solemn mood, God has accepted that Dr. Saulosi Chilima to go to the Lord,” he said.

He finally urged Malawians to be united saying the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima should not divide them, all loved him and to honour him, they should refrain from words, singing songs that will be against peace in Malawi.

Meanwhile, renown musician Lucius Banda, a long-time friend of Dr. Chilima has advised Malawians that as they bid farewell to their departed Veep, they should honour his legacy with love, peace, and tranquility so that his belief in and struggle for this nation inspire many to continue his work.

Banda says Dr. Chilima was more than a leader, he was a brother, a fellow Catholic, a fellow warrior and a kindred spirit saying he stand in solidarity with Malawians, the Chilima family, and the UTM community mourning the loss of father, figure, a trusted leader and a friend to many.

“Rest In Peace dear brother, Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima,” reads Lucius Banda’s eulogy in part.

Among the dignitaries who joined President Chakwera in the burial ceremony of Dr. Chilima were former Presidents Dr. Bakili Muluzi and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as well as former Vice President Khumbo Hastings Kachali.
