Kalindo slams Malawi analysts for prioritizing government funding over truth
By Vincent Gunde
Political activist Bon Kalindo, has expressed his disappointment with Malawi’s analysts, stating that many of them prioritize receiving government funding over providing objective analysis.
According to Kalindo, some analysts, like Steve Chimwaza, are exceptions, speaking truthfully without bias.
However, others, he claims, are motivated by self-interest and mislead the public, similar to the perceived bias of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).
Kalindo argues that analysts should provide balanced news and critique the government when necessary, rather than solely focusing on the opposition.
He highlights various issues affecting Malawians, including passport challenges, underfunded government departments, and prison conditions.
Kalindo questions President Chakwera’s confidence in winning the 2025 elections, suggesting that any victory would be due to vote rigging rather than popular support.
The activist also criticizes Dr. Saulos Chilima, the MCP’s torch bearer, stating that his popularity has waned and he is no longer seen as a viable leader.
Kalindo believes that many Malawians regret voting for President Chakwera in 2020 and are now suffering under the MCP-led government.
Kalindo advises analysts to remain silent if they have nothing constructive to say, rather than accepting government funding to promote the ruling party.
He encourages Malawians to attend MCP rallies for personal gain but vote for parties that will bring positive change.
Finally, Kalindo warns those responsible for violent attacks on DPP members in February 2024 that justice will eventually prevail, and they will face prosecution.
