Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) says the plans in the pipeline for it to introduce a community brand band network known as Yathu Yathu data.
According to MACRA Director General Daud Suleman, the Yathu Yathu data will contribute to the creation of a competitive data market.
Suleman explained that comparing this bundle to other data options in the nation, it is reasonably priced.
“This indicates that customers have an additional option to select from in addition to the mobile data offered by TNM and Airtel networks.
“In addition, it will bring to competition to the market, pricing, and reasonably priced networks for access to data bundles,” said Suleman.
The MACRA DG said the eight districts will participate in a pilot program where the new model will be tested.
