MCP contender Dickson Chatanga manhandled in Kasungu- claims thugs within the party attacked him

MCP member who has declared his intention to contest as Director of Youth at the party’s forthcoming Convention this year was physically manhandled on Kasungu leaving him seeking medical treatment.

This has been brought to light by an audio circulating in various social media platforms that one MCP diehard, Dickson Chatanga was beaten leaving him half dead at Santhe ground in Kasungu at an MCP rally which was addressed by Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola Banda on 1st January, 2024.

The audio as narrated by Chatanga is highlighting diabolical activities masterminded by MCPs Director of Youth (DoY) Richard Chimwendo Banda to clobber to death Chatanga who is poised to contest against him on the position of DoY in the forthcoming elective conference.

Narrating the whole story, Chatanga said he and his team travelled to Santhe in Kasungu to perform party activities as always assigned when an MCP senior official is holding a rally saying while distributing Party T-shirts and zitenjes and providing security, three men from State House started beating and trapping him down.

He said Mathias, Gift Banda and Daukani were sent by Chimwendo Banda to beat him and Blessings Kanyoni on the claims that he speaks bad against Chimwendo saying this was revealed by Dala Kadula, Matias and Daukani while he was being beaten up.

Chatanga claimed that well wishers rescued him while half dead and the State House team pounced on Blessings Kanyoni but was quickly rescued by many people who came following them and broke them from doing similar attacks on Blessings.

He has assured Chimwendo Banda that his blood spilled on to the ground will be the end of his political career because God the Almighty does not side with murderers advising Chimwendo to be exemplary not to paint the MCP as a party of death.

“God is away from you, you will remember my words 1st January, 2024, you will not proceed with this type of politics to 2025,” said Chatanga.

He said he has no powers to go to report anywhere even to police claiming that Government is in the hands of Chimwendo Banda observing that Dala Kadula hacked chiefs in Kawale township in Lilongwe with a knife but was not arrested and is still providing security to Chimwendo.

The MCP diehard said the team which beat him was also targeting Alex Major but was nowhere to be seen even though Santhe is his home and he went to attend Chithyola’s meeting as one from the area and not as an enemy of the MCP.

Meanwhile, a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has asked President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera to do whatever is possible for Dickson Chatanga to receive treatment whether in Malawi or outside the country.

Kamphangala has assured the MCP family that it was only Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda who was Life President and no one in MCP should use his position to stop those who wants to contest against any position in the party.
