Chakwera says 2024 a year of pushing for completion of development projects

President Lazarus Chakwera says 2024 is a year of pushing for completion of development projects while commencing new ones.
In his address to Malawians on Sunday in Mangochi on New Year celebrations, President Chakwera said in 2023 the country had to overcome many challenges.
He said for instance in the first quarter of the year, the country overcame a cholera outbreak, drought and the worst cyclone in Malawi’s history.
“We overcame these challenges by uniting our resources and efforts to rescue and serve the most vulnerable and by refusing to point fingers at each other for disasters that were not the doing of any of us,” Chakwera said.
On governance, the Malawi leader said his government has completed the exercise of cleaning up a sewage of bad and poorly negotiated contracts in the Energy and Mining sectors and empower institutions more than ever before as well as giving the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) more human and financial resources than under any administration.
