Female hospital attendant Nancy Mbale arrested over possession of unlicensed medical drugs

Police in Rumphi are keeping in custody a 43- year-old hospital attendant Nancy Mbale for being found in possession of assorted drugs without a license.

This comes barely after two days after the hospital pharmacy was gutted down by fire.

According to Rumphi Police spokesperson Noel Kamchenga, the guards discovered this and reported the matter ti police upon searching her bag and finding her with the drugs.

“The guards called the police after discovering the drugs in her bag after a search. She is currently in our custody and soon she will appear before the court to answer charges of theft by a public servant,” said Kamchenga.

The police spokesperson said some of the recovered drugs include diazepam, benzathene penicillin, benzyl penicillin, LA, paracetamol and ethambutol.

He said the suspect who hails from Jeyeka Village, Traditional Authority(TA) Chikulamayembe in Rumphi district will appear in court soon to answer a charge of illegal drug possession.
