The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has partnered with the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) for the University to introduce the Postgraduate Certificate in Taxation and Customs.
The partnership signing ceremony was held on Monday, in Blantyre.
The programme is expected to start in the next academic year.
In an interview with local media after signing the MoU, MRA Commissioner General John Biziwick said the partnership will reduce training costs for upgrading skills for its members of staff.
“This partnership will help to train and empower our staff with knowledge in taxation.”
Bizwick further said with the MoU, only candidates with the requisite knowledge and skills in taxation will be considered for employment at the institution.
In her remarks, MUBAS vice-chancellor, Nancy Chitera said the MoU will benefit both parties as it gives room for fresh graduates from Mubas to be employed at MRA.
She said: “MRA approached us to train human capital for their services. Together we have developed a curriculum for undergraduates in Bachelor’s Degree in Taxation which is already being offered. We will also offer training to their staff through post-graduate programs.”
