Man killed over fresh maize in Nkhata-Bay

In Nkhata-Bay,angry villagers have on Tuesday killed a man identified as James Kenani for allegedly stealing fresh maize cobs.

Nkhatabay Police spokesperson, Sergeant Kondwani James confirmed of the development to Malawiana Times saying the maize owner, Miriam Masonga reportedly spotted Kenani plucking the maize cobs.

Said James:”Kenani was brutally beaten by angry villagers after he was caught. Due to multiple cuts he sustained he did not make it.”

He added that they are currently keeping in custody Fortune Kasambala,31, and Evance Ngozi, 60 in connection to the incident.

James said, on top of that, they have also launched investigation to arrest the remaining suspects.

James Kenani hailed from Dambo Village, Traditional Authority (TA) Chiseka in Lilongwe.
