MRA courts MBS on trade, border electronic transactions facilitation

By Chisomo Phiri

Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has fallen in partnership with Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) in facilitating trade and border transactions, through the adoption of an electronic system called Automated System for Customers Data (ASCUDA)

The system is expected to allow MBS to have access to MRA’s automated system for customs data and verify quality of goods.

Through the system, users will be able to access MRA and MBS products at the same time.

Gloria Meleka from MBS

According to the MBS Director of Quality assurance Groria Meleka, the system will facilitate business activities between the two companies.

”The cost of doing business will be minimal because traders will not spend a lot of time at the border,” Meleka said.
