Malawi’s legendary artist Gidess Chalamanda unwell, admitted at Chiradzulu district hospital

Malawian legendary musician Gidess Chalamanda is reported to have fallen sick and is being admitted at Chiradzulu district hospital.
But writing on this Facebook page on Thursday, social media influencer Pemphero Mphande indicated that Chalamanda is now feeling better than before.
“Earlier today, i visited the legendary Gidess Chalamanda at Chiradzulu District hospital where he was admitted in the early hours of today.
” He is stronger than he came in. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers,” stated Mphande.
Meanwhile,hundreds of fans are showering the veteran folklore music artist with goodwill messages.
Several artists such as Princess Chitsulo are also sending ‘A Gide’ quick recovery massages .
The ‘Linny Hoo’ hit maker was born on 15 January 1931.
He is the oldest musician in Malawi.
Chalamanda’s music career started in the mid-1940s when he started teaching himself how to play gallon guitars.
His song “linny” a mashup with another popular musician Dr. Namadingo trended on TikTok gaining over a million views and challenges across the world.
On 26 November 2022, Chalamanda received a ‘ Lifetime achievement award’ from Maso Awards for his contribution towards the development of the music industry in Malawi.
