Fantastic Four as Bullets humbles Soldiers and Dedza beats KN
By Hastings Wadza Kasonga Jr
Alick Lungu and Lanjesi Nkhoma scored two goals each as FCB Nyasa Bullets edged MAFCO 4-0 at the Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon to move second on the standings.
The People’s team produced a sparkling performance in the second half after a poor outing in the first half despite leading courtesy of Lungu’s screamer and Nkhoma sealing the brace with Lungu getting another to seal the win.
Head coach for the team, Callisto Pasuwa said he was happy with the win and the performance in the second half.
“I am very happy I should say, we played very well mostly in the second half.
“MAFCO took their approach in Dedza, pressing and too physical that made us fail to play from the back but in the second half, it was all more offensive,” Said Pasuwa.
Meanwhile, Stereo Gondwe for MAFCO attributed the loss to conceding early and poor officiation.
“We started very well but that goal hurted us and our goalkeeper betrayed us. In the second half, we put the game at 2-1 but the ref denied us the goal, that affected the boys,” Said Gondwe.
MAFCO were a better team in the first minutes but was Bullets who opened the scores through Alick Lungu’s rocket that beat Blessings Kameza on 14th minute. MAFCO came close on 41st minute as Walungusu Mpata missed a one on one chance with Chimbamba.
The People’s team added second on 50th minute through Lanjesi Nkhoma from the spot after Yohane Malunga handled the ball in the box and Zikani Sichinga’s goal was ruled out for an offside two minutes later with Peter Kasonga and Auspicious Kadzongola introduced for MAFCO. Lungu added third on 55 minutes with a powerful shot and Nkhoma netted the fourth 6 minutes later as Bullets spitted fire to the soldiers.
Righteous Banda, Ephraim Kondowe, Collins Odiambo, Chawanangwa Gumbo and Stanley Billiati came in for Bullets but contributed to nothing as Bullets sealed the win. They stay now second with 4 points while MAFCO are 5th with 3 points.
Meanwhile, a Mzuzu Derby between Moyale Barracks and Ekwendeni Hammers yielded nothing as they played a goalless draw at Mzuzu Stadium. Both teams have 2 points from two games.
Extreme FC got their first ever points of the league after holding Civo United 1-1 at the Civo Stadium. Chifundo George cancelled out Binwell Katinji’s goal to seal the draw.
Finally in Dedza, Ibrahim Sadick netted a winner for Dedza Dynamos as the home side played a five goal thriller against Kamuzu Barracks in a 3-2 win. Clement Nyondo opened the scores on 30th minute before Kelvin Hanganda levelled before half time. Chifuniro Mpinganjira’s goal on 55 minutes was cancelled out by Chimwemwe Chisambi two minutes later before Sadick’s spot kick sealing the victory.
Dedza are now third with four points while KB are 13th with a point. After week 2, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers lead with 6 points while Red Lions anchor the table.
