President Chakwera off to Qatar

President Lazarus Chakwera has today left the country for Doha, Qatar where he is expected to attend the 5th United Nations ( UN) Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC 5) slated for March 5 to 9,2023.
The conference – being held under the theme “From Potential to Prosperity” – is significant to Malawi and the LDC bloc in a number of ways as guided by the strategic urge to achieve United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Escorting Chakwera at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe was Vice President Saulos Chilima and other several government top officials.
Writing on his facebook wall, the Presidentit said it is at this conference that he will represent the Malawi citizens.
Chakwera also revealed that at the conference, he will hand over Malawi’s chairship of the LDC upon completion of the tenure.
“Secondly, Malawi is going there to consolidate efforts with the other forty-five LDC members in our mission to fully implement the Doha Programme of Action.
“The programme seeks to galvanise bold investments in education, health, agriculture, social protection programs, governance and climate change management.
” I will keep you updated on my itinerary at the conference,” wrote the Malawi leader.
It is said that apart from the main conference itself, President Lazarus Chakwera will also attend various side events and hold bilateral meetings with representatives of various governments and international organizations in oder to promote Malawi’s interest.
