South African rapper AKA shot dead in Durban

Death has been announced of a multi-award winning South African hip-hop artist Kiernan Jarryd Forbes popularly known by his stage name AKA.
According to several media reports, the artist has died after being shot by unknown people on the night of February 10,2023.
“He was shot dead in Durban as he was due to perform at a show organised to mark his birthday celebration at Club Yugo,” meadi reports say.
It is further reported that two more people were also attacked on the scene who are AKA’s bodyguard who has since developed wounds while his other close friend was also shot dead at the material time.
Local police in South Africa are yet to officially confirm on the matter, although media spaces in South Africa are arleady carrying artists condoling the music fraternity and his family.
Born and raised in Cape Town, Forbes gained recognition after releasing his single “Victory Lap” from his debut studio album, Altar Ego in 2010.
The artist continued his success by releasing studio albums which include Levels (2014), Touch My Blood (2018), Bhovamania (2020), and the collaborative album with Anatii, titled Be Careful What You Wish For (2017).
In April 2018, Forbes was featured as a special guest on WWE Live events, which were held in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
In 2019, he was the roastee for the Comedy Central Roast special.
