Two in police cooler for stealing medical drugs
By Staff Reporter
While the Ministry of Health is struggling with supplying drugs in the country’s hospitals, police in Dedza have arrested two medical trainees for allegedly stealing assorted medical drugs.
The two are working at Dedza district hospital on industrial attachment basis from St John Institute for Health. The two have been identified as Ivy Nkhata 20 and Olivia Mazinga 23.
Dedza police spokesperson Beatrice Jefita says that the two were doing their attachments at the institution’s pharmacy department.
Attempts to talk to the suspects or the academic institution these two come from were not successful. However it remains to be seen how St. John Institute of Health will handle the matter as such conduct has for a long time dented the image of the medical profession.
