The Public Appointments Committee of Parliament (PAC) on Thursday morning February 2,2023 appointed Trouble Kalua, Deputy Director of Legal Aid Bureau (LAD), as the new Director.
PAC chairperson, Joyce Chitsulo confirmed the development with local media saying Kalua’s confirmation by the parly committee is with effect from March 1, 2023.
Chitsulo added that the committee used Section 9 (1)(b) of the Legal Aid Act to confirm Kalua’s new role.
He replaces Masauko Chamkakala who President Lazarus Chakwera appointed recently as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) following the removal of Steven Kayuni.
Kalua holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Malawi.
