Silver Strikers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thokozani Chimbali has resigned from his position following demands by a cross section of supporters to have him and one other member of staff fired.

Writing on his Facebook page Chimbali said he cannot go on leading the club when his life is in danger.

“Silver Strikers is my home but when your life is at stake, consider your family first. My contract ends on 30th March 2023 with the company and I have asked the board not to renew it.
Meanwhile I have decided to take leave till the end of my contract.
Don’t take death threats lightly.”

However, Police say they are yet to receive a complaint from Chimbali concerning the matter.

On Saturday, some Silver Strikers supporters took the law into their own hands when they sealed the club’s offices demanding the firing of Chimbali and Fans Engagement Officer David Dauda.

The supporters say they are not happy with the duo claiming they make decisions without proper consultations.

Recently the team which finished the just ended soccer season without any silverware, offloaded five players namely Blessings Tembo, Frank Banda, Mike Robert, Prince Phiri and Taonga Chimodzi.

This did not go down well with some supporters who claim the decision was made by the CEO without consulting the technical team.
