Mtambo Reassures AIP Success in the Northern Hard to reach Areas

Minister of National Unity Timothy Mtambo who is also Member of the AIP Tasks Force has reassured Malawians of AIP success this year. He made the call on Thur when he arrived in the North to monitor progress for AIP for Karonga and Chitipa districts. The Minister inspected fertilizer warehouses and looding at SFFRFM regional offices at Luwinga in Mzuzu.

While the Minister is in North his activities include troubleshooting possible transport and logistical challenges in Nthalire and other hard to reach parts of Chitipa and Karonga. The Malawi Defence Force (MDF) has been engaged to boost up quick transport and logistical assistance wherever challenges appear in order to ensure speedy delivery of the much needed fertilizers. The intervention is expected to see over 500 tonnes of NPK and Urea fertilizers delivered by the end of this weekend. Over 10 MDF trucks have already been dispatched to deliver NPK and Urea fertilizers at South Kapolo, Kapoka and Nthalire.

Mtambo reported that he has shared AIP progress monitoring in the Northern region with Minister of Agriculture, Hon Kawale who is inspecting the other northern districts. The Minister of Youth Hon Chimwendo who is also Chairperson for AIP Task Force has taken on districts in the Southern region.

Mtambo has reassured Malawians, especially those in the hard to reach areas of the success of AIP for this growing season. The Minister has also thanked and congratulated President Chakwera for leading this relentless fight for Malawi to achieve food security.
