Malawi lose to Zambia in COSAFA U17 Semis

Malawi Under-17 national team area out of the COSAFA U17 Girls Championship Region 5 Youth games following their 3-2 defeat to Zambia through post match penalties at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Zambia were the first to score through Jessy Zulu who scored just two minutes from kick-off from the penalty spot but Malawi equalized through Rose Kabzere in the 52nd minute.

Zambia increased their lead in the 63rd minute through Zongose Zulu but again Kabzere equalized 13 minutes later.


The game then entered into penalties and Zambia emerged victorious beating Malawi 3-1 on post-match penalties and booking themselves a place in the final.

After the game, Malawi’s Rose Kabzere was voted player of the match after her excellent performance during the game.

Zambia will face the winner between South Africa and Botswana who will meet in another semi-final clash on Thursday.
