President Chakwera visits injured convoy soldiers

President Lazarus Chakwera on Monday evening went to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital to cheer the injured soldiers who were involved in an accident when the vehicle they were in , which was part of the Presidents convoy overturned. About 11 military police soldiers were involved in a road accident at Grace Bandawe Conference center on Magalasi road in Blantyre and two of the soldiers have died , according government spokesperson and Information Minister Gospel Kazako.
Hospital officials at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital where the injured military police soldiers are being treated for various injuries have told president Chakwera that most of the soldiers are now in stable condition. However, one is in the intensive care unit for specialized treatment. “You’ll be alright, you’ll pull through” Chakwera was heard murmuring to the soldiers as he gave them words of encouragement.
Police are yet to disclose the cause the accident which led to the Military Toyota land cruiser plunge into a Blantyre Girls Primary School perimeter fence, near HHI in Blantyre.
President Chakwera did not speak to the media after the visit .His press secretary Brian Banda said the president is very saddened to the realization that two members of his security detail have died while others are agonizing. Names of the soldiers that have died are yet to be released.
